The process…

Companies talk of providing SEO all the time. You’ve probably had that telephone call saying how someone will get you to number 1 on Google by doing all sorts of volume link building but unfortunately it’s not quite that easy. SEO is made up of a few main parts, there is no one ‘quick fix’ but done correctly it will put you where you need to be.

 

A broad overview

To give you a better idea of what really needs to be done we thought we would outline some of the main points.

The best place to start is with your websites text. Although search engines are essentially a massive text reading robot, they read at a pretty advanced level scanning it like a book. By repeatedly using the same word or phrase without relevant text to support it, the SEO will be ineffective as it won’t make grammatical sense.  It’s a case of using suitable words or phrases that sit correctly within a well structured piece of text. Successful SEO won’t just bring in any search engine traffic though; it will generate relevant traffic that will in turn will bring in business, not just numbers which is why it’s important to pick your key words carefully.

 

Link building is a big part of a successful SEO campaign but again it’s not about quantity, it’s about quality. This process is about having your link on other websites and is best described as a vote of confidence from them. The best way to link your website is by finding good quality, relevant sites with a good page rank. This way, when a search engine reads it you’ll be linked to trusted sites which have already been determined to include relevant content.

 

Search Engines are unfortunately like big children though. They may be intelligent but if they can’t find what they’re looking for instantly, they won’t look any further. So how do you solve this? It sounds simple, put the relevant content at the top of the page so it’s read first but it is actually to do with how the website is built. Search engines don’t read websites like we do, they read the coding that makes the website work, not the design. It’s down to us therefore to make sure all the key words are read before anything else and just as importantly, before the search engine gets bored.
