Colchester Zoo is one of the leading and most popular attractions in the UK. From its beginnings in 1963 under the name Stanway Hall Park Zoo, it became Colchester Zoo in 1983 after being taken over by the current owner Dr Dominique Tropeano.

A home to a huge variety of animals, the Zoo has won numerous awards for its ground-breaking enclosures; its commitment to conservation ranges from its breeding programme to its Charities, Action for the Wild and UmPhafa. For those visiting, the Zoo also boasts a wide range of amenities and experiences, with most customers starting their journey before they even enter the grounds – by visiting the website.

As a large information-based website our aims were to provide great flexibility to the Zoo’s marketing team through a bespoke website design.

Flexibility is key

Flexibility had to be given to Colchester Zoo with regards to layouts and content whilst meeting the demands of its audience with the majority of users (80%+) visiting on a mobile device.

Our graphic design team were able to create a website with a strong focus on UX and the customer journey that visually represents the Zoo with a highly engaging design. By convincing users to visit and helping them plan their day we ensured their online experience is a positive one and would matche the adventure ahead.
